Creative Decorating Ideas

From the minute you enter the door at an event the design of the space makes an impact. Many planners spend large sums of money on creating a visually spectacular event design, but not every planner has the luxury of a large-scale budget. However, it is quite possible to design a stunning space which is sure to wow the attendees while keeping a close eye on costs.

1. Creative Layout
Something as simple as moving the tables into a unique shape, or using a stage or riser in a creative way can draw the audience's attention and set your event apart from the rest. Providing a variety of spaces, such as traditional tables and high tops along with more casual seating such as couches gives your guests options and offers many different areas to have conversations and enjoy the event. Another very popular trend, is by using family style or community seating.

2. Use of Color
Color is a fundamental part of event design. Many planners use flowers to integrate color, but large floral displays come with substantial price tags. We can instead use color in the items that are essential to the event, such a linens, plates, chairs and skirting. Color can also be added through utilizing lights!

3. Food Displays
The food display can also be used to create another point of interest for your guests. Food can oftentimes be a work of art in itself! Edible items can be made into an exciting display on the service line or on each table as a unique centerpiece.

4. Bring in Natural Elements
Nature can provide a lot beauty to events. The challenge is that they often come with a cost. But we can get creative by using lower cost flowers or perhaps seasonal elements that come at a discounted rate. Items like branches or wildflowers will run at a lower rate than a more traditional flower such as roses.

5. Discount Fabrics and Paper
Fabrics and decorative papers can add to your theme and provide wonderful additions of color. They can be transformed into décor and used in functional items such as place cards, party favors and programs. Draping is another way to use fabric to transform your space.

There are endless ideas and really no wrong answers when it comes to the concept of design, as long as the decor works for our client.

Do you have any creative ideas of your own to share?
